Rupe went out for a walk this morning but Franny told me to stay and guard the house - so I hopped on Rupe's bed in 'regal lion' position until I went to sleep, then when Franny and Rupert came home, I jumped up and wagged my tail very hard so Franny could see I was ready for my walk; But what did Franny say -
"No Harves -not yet!"
I dunno - it seems to me that it's often 'not yet Harves!' .
So I went and sat on Franny's bed and looked out the window.

Franny came into the bedroom and put her shorts and those funny red shoes she wears, into a bag - aha! - I thought, I need to follow her to check on what's happening - into the kitchen to get some treats out of the 'special cupboard' - add to the bag- mmmm! - starting to look interesting, - then a couple of tomatoes- now I don't like tomatoes and come to think of it - neither does Franny - so why tomatoes? - they don't seem to go with the other things in the bag - wait - some Ham from the fridge - that's better - I like ham! and a bottle of water - looking good - I think we could be going somewhere-so does Rupe - he's 'packing up' to go - he's got one of the squeaky toys and is walking around on his bed - Franny just ignores him - Nah Rupe - it doesn't look good mate, she hasn't said we're going anywhere.
"C'mon Harvey - lets go - Rupe you stay and guard the house!"- Yayyy!! my turn!! I scoot out the door while Rupert drops on his bed looking very sad.

Into the car-to the shops to get some rolls, fill up with petrol [I don't really like that bit- it's really smelly] and then Franny says ' Ok Harvey, we're going to the beach [beach- what is beach?] and Jenni and Maddie are coming too" cool- I like that Maddie - Maddie's a girl - she smells different - but good different - she said she's called a Mantle, and she lives with Two 'spotty' dogs, Chad and Tina. Tina is her Granny. - I'm older than Maddie but she says she doesn't care, and anyway, she doesn't know any other yellow dogs.
Well. it's a long way to Maddie's House - but we finally arrive and I get to say hello to Jenni and have a piddle and a drink then Franny put me back in the car - This is the beach? I don't think so!- Franny enlightens me -Lunch first - then the beach - Bugger - I need to see what this beach thing is!

Franny put my long-line on [which means I can go pretty much where I want unless Franny says 'steady Harves' and then I know 'end of the line']
We walked down all these steps through big bushes- I walked first 'cos I'm brave, and a boy, and bigger [well older anyway] than Maddie.
At the end of the steps we passed people- they were holding their kids really close - I wonder if they were scared that they might try to run at Maddie and Me or even try to bite us - Maddie and me - we weren't scared - we wagged our tails and smiled at them and stepped onto 'The Beach.

Wow! it was the same colour as me- Yellow!

The ground felt funny- it was soft and scrunchy at the same time- Maddie and I sniffed it, then we jumped and played a bit till I had tied Maddie up in my long-line; Franny and Jenni said 'enough! and untangled us .
We walked past these small coloured houses [Franny called them 'bathing boxes'] then there was nothing but scrub and yellow sand Franny 'undid' me and said 'Play' so I did. I ran and sniffed and piddled - it was terrific. Beach is good fun!

Franny called 'come' and I did.
'On lead Harves'; Jenni laughed and said 'nudists'.
All of a sudden a man stood up in the dark stuff on the other side of the beach and ran to join other people sitting among the bushes - Maddie and I thought it was a good game and wanted to run too. Franny and Jenni both said 'leave!' Maddie did. I still wanted to go and say hello- and I pulled and pulled on the lead - normally Franny asks people do they want to meet me!!! I don't get it!

We walked for a bit more then Franny walked towards the scary dark stuff 'c'mon Harvey - come close' - I don't think so - and pulled back. Franny pulled back too! 'stand' said Franny - so I jammed my tail between my legs and did.
OMG! OMG! OMG! its coming to get me 'stand' said Franny and she held me still, OMG! it got me!!! it's cold and it's WET!!!! I jumped and WHAM! Franny fell on her bottom!! Jenni Laughed and I hit the end of the lead and stood still.

Fun!! I think I spoke too soon 'cause you know what a beach is - WATER!!! not just any water- it's water that chases you!!!! and IT'S COLD!!!!!!
