Labrador Indulgence Day

Well, while others were at pet expo's and shows today, Franny took me out to a 'Labrador Indulgence day' at Macedon winery. This is a fun day to raise money for the anti-cancer council.

When we arrived, I was very excited - there were soooooo many dogs , mostly Labradors - who are so much fun - met a verrrry large dog called Agatha who wouldn't talk to me till I lay down - well of course she changed from verrrry big to gi-normous then. Franny said she was 'cute' - ha! - but what about all that hair? and she thought she was 'special' just because she was the only wolfhound there - 'but I'm the only Dane here' I told her -'yeah but you blend in with those dopey Labrador's she responded. hmph!!! T hen I met a sweet little cairn girl who told me she loved me- her mum thought it was so cute when I put her whole head in my mouth.

Franny and I went into all the games - egg and spoon race-would have won it too, but a Labrador from the sidelines ran out to chat-I couldn't just tell her to 'push off' could I? And that rude MC asked 'were they going to allow horses in the race'- Franny said 'The lady in the pet shop told me he was a Labrador' and everybody laughed. Then it was the sock race - we ran down to some mats, franny told me to sit [which of course I did] then she started to put socks on me - well of course that made me laugh and I rolled over and put my feet in the air-franny wasn't impressed but she WAS laughing, any way we came second, most of the other dogs couldn't even keep their socks on - see sometimes its good to have big feet. last game was a progressive dinner, franny told me it was my lunch, - we got a piece of celery, apple and carrot, some funny stuff out of a can and a chewy thing. Now, I love my fruit and veg - but it wasn't in my bowl and franny normally tells me to 'wait' then 'yes' then I eat, but this was in public with lots of people and dogs - lots of noise- I couldn't eat anything - mind you the canned stuff smelt alright but that mean Franny wouldn't let me eat that-instead she took the fruit and veg back to our 'spot' and I shared it with my friend Bonney [a Labrador who used to be called 'kissy' before she came to live with her new mum].

Then it was down to a thing called a DAM -Franny let me off the lead and said to go and play in the water- WHAT!!! - I might be a yellow dog - but I'm not stupid!! I ran and played with some Labradors - franny didn't call me to 'come' - cause she knew I was distracted -instead she got a lady to call her OBEDIENT Labrador, who told me I should follow him back to the Dam [where Franny was able to praise me when I came back and she managed to grab my collar].

It was a great day until the nice blonde lady who had been chatting me up stuck a big needle in my neck - boy did I yelp - Franny called me a big sook, but explained that the needle allowed a microchip to be inserted and that if I got lost [as if!!] it would help me to find her.

Then it was time to go home- which was good as I was sooooo tired - and I slept all the way home.
